BIO

For Megan Perry Fisher, the piano is a vital, intimate place of belonging. Across her tender debut album, Pensées, and her latest EP release, David Lynch, Mon Amour, the American composer creates analogue soundworlds of cinematic depth and immersive emotion, drawing listeners into an inner space of storytelling connection.

“Piano always gave me a sense of belonging that no other form of expression did,” she says. “From the very beginning, it felt like my natural language. It lets me explore emotion without words and it’s a place where I can process things quietly, to feel my way through in a private world.”

Studying Music Composition and Film Scoring at NYU, Fisher broadened her influences to include everyone from Ethiopian nun and pianist Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou to French singer-songwriter Françoise Hardy, composers Debussy, Ravel and Philip Glass and the visual style of filmmakers like Sophia Coppola and Agnès Varda.

With ongoing work including a full-length ballet collaboration with American Ballet Theatre choreographer Dasha Schwartz and an immersive reimagining of Swan Lake for Nashville Ballet, it seems Fisher’s piano-led artistry is only expanding.

LISTEN

Fisher began working on the yearning introspection of her 2023 debut album Pensées. Partly recorded in New York’s 19th Century opera house, Hudson Hall, the record is full of time-worn, tactile warmth that grounds Fisher’s lusciously layered string harmonies and plaintive piano melodies.

“You can hear the chair, the pedal, my breath and sometimes small, happy accidents like birds singing outside the studio window,” she says. “There’s often a quiet melancholy running through the music softened by a sense of femininity and lightness. It feels atmospheric and cinematic, like a world you can step into.”
